    ABSTRACT
Background: This study investigated the creative commons licences and internet content use by students of FCETE Benin. The objectives of the study were to determine the influence of perception of creative commons licences; determine the influence of comprehension of creative commons licences; and ascertain the influence of awareness of creative commons licences on internet content use.
Methods: The descriptive survey research design was adopted. The population was 396 students, and total enumeration was adopted for the study. The instrument for collecting data was the structured questionnaire, and data was analysed using inferential statistics.
Results and discussion: Findings showed that students’ perception of creative commons licences had a weak positive statistically insignificant relation with internet content use (R2 = 0.085; F = 15.219; p = 0.000), also, comprehension of creative commons licences had a weak positive statistically significant relation with internet content use (R2 = 0.217; F = 45.463; p = 0.000), and the combined perceptions and comprehension on creative commons licences of creative commons licences have a strong positive statistically significant relation with internet content use (Adj. R2 = 0.257; F = 29.513; p = 0.001).
Conclusions: The research recommended that there is a need to ensure that students are properly
guided and trained on the use of the internet and its contents profitably.
